MNRI®: Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex

The STNR assists in the development of bilateral patterns of body movement and information processing in the left and right hemispheres. The development of the STNR helps the infant crawl on all fours using a cross-lateral style of movement. It is this movement that activates both brain hemispheres to function in synchronicity for processing information. The STNR develops the mechanisms for calming down the body motion activity, or freezing reaction, in order to activate the perception processes of seeing and hearing. It plays an important part in developing binocular vision and binaural hearing. The STNR also develops the ability and feeling of being balanced, or in a state of equilibrium, as well as having adequate perceptions of space, depth, and time orientation. Video Runtime: 13 minutes, 25 seconds.
