The Masgutova Method® is a set of programs focused on the restoration and maturation of primary movements, reflexes, coordination systems, skills for optimal performance of natural mechanisms, developmental processes, brain functioning, and sensory-motor integration. The Mission of the Svetlana Masgutova Educational Institute (SMEI) is to provide health, wellness and educational professionals, parents, and caregivers with non-invasive techniques to address maturational, developmental, and life challenges.
Learner Objectives:
- Analyze the innate nature of the sensory-motor reflex
system and the foundational principles of the Masgutova Method®.
- Analyze the role of reflexes and their sensory, motor,
and central nervous system mechanisms in supporting neurodevelopment.
- Differentiate the progression of primary movements
beginning in utero and continuing throughout the lifespan.
- Analyze the role of Archetype movements in establishing
a foundation for motor, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral regulation, and
predict
their impact on occupational performance.
- Investigate the structure, sequence, and influence
of the eight Archetype motor patterns on brain functioning, and analyze their effects as change agents on physical,
emotional, social, and cognitive development.
- Demonstrate and implement MNRI® Archetype passive and
active integration techniques within therapeutic sessions.
- Demonstrate by hands-on techniques for restoration and integration exercises, including sensory, sensory-motor, and motor modalities, for each of the eight Archetypal movements.
- Analyze the three structural body planes and motor coordination systems (sagittal, horizontal, dorsal) and predict how the eight Archetypal movements influence reflex development within each system.
- Apply individualized MNRI® programs for clients with neurodevelopmental deficits and learning challenges that impact occupational engagement.
Course Agenda:
Day 1
Hour 1: Movement as basis of Natural Development
Hours 2-3: Masgutova Method ® of Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration and Archetype Movements
Hour 4: Primary and natural movements; the Archetypes of movement development
Hours 5-6: Developmental mechanism of Infant Reflexes and connection to the self-regulation of the body-mind system
Hours 7-8: Archetype Movements, patterns and reflexes
Day 2
Hours 1-3: Movements of the body
Hour 4: Natural flow of intentional and controlled movements
Hours 5-6: Individual program development
Hours 7-8: Archetype Movement and Infant Reflex Patterns
Day 3
Hour 1-3: Archetype Movement and Infant Reflex Patterns
Hours 4-5: Archetype Movements and the development of lifelong reflexes
Hours 6-8: Current research, review, and question/answers
Course Length: The course is a 24 hours course over a 3 day period.
All IPETS include:
- Written test before class
- 16 hrs of non-CEU credit online lecture
- Hands-On Exam during IPET class
- Practical Hands-On Graded Exam following 64 conference hours
